Patrick J. Whalen served with the FDNY from 1982 to 2001. He received the Dr. Albert A. Cinelli Medal of Honor for heroic actions at unusual personal risk. Patrick responded to lower Manhattan on the morning of 9/11/2001 with the members of Ladder 83 and worked tirelessly in the rescue and recovery effort.
Twenty years later, in the spring of 2020, Pat was diagnosed with a 9/11-related cancer and fought valiantly for 15 months before departing this earth far too soon. He gave his life in service to others.
We will never forget him and the bravery he showed every day as a member of FDNY.
Patrick loved his family, his faith, and his community. He was a beloved husband, father, and friend.
We miss him every day.
