  1. No Memory Wall Messages!?!? Gotta take care of that right now. Just found this site. Had no idea. Not big on writing much that is personal online, so I will simply say, I love you, still miss you, and feel honored and blessed to be your big sister since way before you became a firefighter. Our connection has always been deep and, as we got older, a lot of it was more “on the inside” due to that “3000 mile commute” 🙂 Even so, you are still with me, are a part of me, and always will have a place in my heart.

    – Marie Mitchell
  2. I had the honor of participating in the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb in Lambeau Field , climbing in remembrance of Paul. He was truly a hero in every sense of the word. Paul will remain in the hearts of those that loved him and all those that have walked, ran or climbed in his name. May God Bless all those he left behind.

    – Karen Capers
  3. Visiting from Nottingham England. Saw a white rose on the name of Paul Thomas Mitchell, meaning today would have been his birthday. 63rd I believe. A time of what should have been his retirement years. He gave the ultimate sacrifice. This touched me today. I hold his family in my prayers. May he rest peacefully.

  4. I had the honor today to participate in the 9-11 tower challenge in Glendale Arizona, and wore Paul Thomas Mitchell’s name on a bracelet that was given to me during check in. I immediately googled the name to learn about this brave man who I will be stepping for, just to get a brief feeling of who he was and how he lived his life. At the time of this tragedy I was in my first year of tech school and that’s when I got the call to join the armed forces. I am a Marine, and have fought 2 tours of duty for LT Mitchell but now understand why I fought for him but also his family. Now, a father of 2 boys, can’t imagine what his wife and daughters have been through that day and the rest of their lives. I’m so sorry for your loss and will never forget.

    – Chris
  5. You saved me. I don’t know why you did but you saved me. On that awful day you tackled me into a restaurant. I was scared you told me to call you Mr. Mitchell I have never been more scared in my life. But you saved me. I always thought to myself why me? I’m a nobody. I am nothing but this day I assume I was somebody. You left after. Never to return I still to this day don’t forgive myself but I wrote about you and see you in my dreams. You are a hero and without you I would never be. God bless your family and these United States. Without you I would have never made it. Much love and hope.

  6. Thanking for being my hero and thank you for saving me.

    – Stephanie M Skinner
  7. May God Bless your family in your absence. I pray that you and your family find peace in this life and are able to be together in the eternities. I know that the real heros that day gave all. May all the blessings God has instore for your family come true.

    – Keith Buell
  8. I was watching 20th anniversary of 9/11 and I the name Paul Thomas Mitchell and I started because I have an Uncle name Thomas Mitchell and I had to look up this brave man who I could possibly share DNA with because my Mitchell side of the family has a New York connection through my Great Grandmother so I have unknown cousins living in New York and I have kept the people of New York in my prayers daily because I know they suffer daily with the aftermath of 9/11 especially the wonderful First Responders! My mom’s big brother her first cousin was a career firefighter Fire Chief and worked in HazMat until he retired a few years ago and my hero and we don’t let a fire truck siren go unheard with every member of the family praying for all firefighters everywhere and will continue to pray for all of them every day until I’m passed myself. God Bless First Responders Everywhere ♥️

    – Nancy Renee Mitchell
  9. I was able to participate in a 9-11 Tunnel 2 Towers event today and was given Paul Mitchell’s name to wear. What an honor it is to learn more about him and his family and their great sacrifice for our country. Thank you for your service and thank you to the family for supporting him in his career.

    – Ryan Booth
  10. Paul was assigned to Ladder 110 when my brother, Kevin Kane, was assigned there as a probationary fireman in 1991.
Unfortunately Kevin died in the line of duty on 9-13-1991. A tough time for his family and his fellow firefighters from 110. All of whom were heroes.
Yet over the ensuing years I would always recall with fondness Paul’s kindness and professionalism in the way he treated my parents during that difficult time.
Needless to say we were sadden to learn that Paul lost his life on 9-11.
On this 21st anniversary of his passing I continue to offer prayers that he is at eternal peace and that his family continues to be comforted with the knowledge their hero left a lasting impression on so many people.

    – Michael Kane
  11. What an honor to have recently run (walked) a Tunnel to Towers 5K in Paul’s name. It was the last race of the season and was held in my new home in South Carolina. I am originally a NYer and my dad was also a NYC fireman. God bless your family.

    Denise Hollywood
  12. Hi Paul. It’s Julie, your next door neighbor with Steve and Darlene. We still talk about you all the time I thought you should know. You were my dads best friend. He still talks about you all the time. Our street is named after you. Nothings really changed. Say hi to the family for me some how some way. We always think about them too. We love you and miss you.

    – Julie forlenza
  13. In memory of Lieutenant Paul Thomas Mitchell, a true hero. I had the honour to visit the 9:11 memorial and saw Lieutenant Mitchell’s name. I feel kinship as my grandmother, Josephine Mitchell, emigrated to NY in the 30s from Roscommon. We are possible cousins. Of course we are all related and when incredible heroes like Lt Mitchell make the ultimate sacrifice for others they shine as a beacon and example of the kinship we should all feel and live by. God bless and keep you and yours, Lieutenant Paul Thomas Mitchell.

    – Emily Haggan
  14. Just got home after Tunnel to Towers race here in Columbia,SC tonight. I grabbed Paul’s picture to carry with me on the race tonight. Literally carried it as I was worried it would fall off my shirt. I knew nothing about him but at the same time…I felt I knew what he wanted us all to know…he sacrificed his life for all of us. Honored to carry him with me tonight. I will save his picture as a reminder to keep on despite adversity!

    – Kara Blaisure
  15. My son Lenten just participated in the 9/11 memorial stair climb in Knoxville TN at the Sunsphere. He climbed in honor & memory of Paul Thomas Mitchell.
Sir, your memory will live on thru our family. Thank you for your service. 🇺🇸

    – Tiffany Sutton
  16. Paul’s sister Susan visits my fire department every year around the anniversary of September 11th. Her stories of her brother makes him more than just a name. We all feel like we know him a little through her memories.

    – Steve DeLuca
  17. You were my basketball coach for OLSS in 1998. Thank you for your service. You are a hero. Rest peacefully
