Ladderman Thomas Wagner, age 54, along with 6 other Baltimore City firefighters, were killed during the September 2, 1888 Sharp Street warehouse fire. Ladderman Wagner had served the department for 20 years. This was one of the largest fires and greatest tragedies for the Baltimore City Fire Department.
