Firefighter Timothy J. Burke, 51, of the Fire Department City of New York – Rescue 5, died on September 12, 2020, from illness related to response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

He was appointed to the FDNY on October 27, 1996, and retired March 31, 2006. He loved being a firefighter.

A graduate of Tottenville High School, he attended the College of Staten Island, Willowbrook. Before joining the FDNY, he was a journeyman for the electrician’s union, Local 3.

He was a coach for Staten Island Boys Football League.

He loved life and his children. He is remembered for his sense of humor and his ability to make people laugh.
