Travis Lee Brown
January 21‚ 1971 – June 2‚2001
Travis was a high school graduate from Leavenworth High School in Leavenworth‚ Kansas. Following high school he worked towards achieving his goal of becoming a nurse. He worked at a few jobs including security at the airport‚ nursing assistant at a local care center‚ and as a care provider for the physically and mentally disabled adults of Platte County for four years.
Travis then put himself through nursing school and received his Licensed Practical Nurse degree. He utilized his degree by working for two nursing agencies in the Kansas City area. He was an incredible nurse with a gift for helping people.
Travis and his family moved to Dearborn‚ Missouri in 1997. This is where he joined the Dearborn Volunteer Fire Department. This was a great thrill in his life. He was always ready to go on a call whether it was a fire or medical emergency.
Travis was more than a good nurse and a volunteer firefighter. He was a husband to Tammy‚ and a father to five children – Nicole‚ Alyssa‚ James‚ Roth‚ and Amanda. During his free time‚ he coached the 4th and 5th grade boys’ basketball teams where his two sons attended school. When not working or coaching‚ he loved to take his family camping. From the mudslides into the lake that Travis made for his children‚ to the practical jokes he constantly played‚ Travis demonstrated he was the biggest kid of them all.
There are many things for which Travis will always be remembered. Firefighting‚ nursing‚ his contagious smile and sense of humor‚ but mostly his love for his family are some of those things.
Travis was on his way to fight a fire June 2‚ 2001‚ when the world lost this wonderful human being. His friends and family know that heaven regained one of their best angels‚ and his memory will forever be etched in our hearts.
I think about you every day. I wish my kids could have met their amazing grandpa. I miss you so much. I love you Daddy. You will always live on in my memories.
