ONE-TIME DEATH BENEFIT

Cumberland County Department of Public Safety (DPS) provides an insurance program which provides a $250,000 life insurance benefit for accidental death occurring during the course of DPS volunteer efforts. Coverage is provided for participation in one of the following DPS programs:

  • Public Safety Information Team
  • Technical Rescue Operations Team
  • Search and Rescue Team
  • County Animal Response Team
  • Special Police Emergency Response Team
  • Volunteer Support to DPS
  • Special Hazardous Operations Team

A $250,000 illness loss of life benefit is provided for a death resulting from an illness obtained during the course of DPS volunteer efforts.

An additional $10,000 dependent benefit is paid to each dependent child for a death that occurs during the course of DPS volunteer efforts.

An additional $5,000 spousal support benefit is paid to the surviving legal spouse for a death that occurs during the course of DPS volunteer efforts.
