Katie, a licensed elementary educator seeks to pursue her master’s degree in special education. She feels this scholarship will lessen the financial burden of student debt upon completing graduate school. Katie not only wants to teach, but also wants to make a difference in the lives of children who struggle academically.
Working as a first-year special education teacher for K-1 students, she strives to learn more to better serve her students. Working as a first-year teacher has left no time for volunteering at this time. Once she completes her further education and advances in her career, Katie strongly desires to get more involved in volunteering in her community.
Scappoose Fire Chief (Ret.) Michael S. Greisen says, “Katie’s strongest personal trait is the willingness to help others. The death of her father inspired her to want to help other children.”
