Senator Paul Sarbanes Scholarship

Scholarship Recipient

Renee Prouty

Major: Criminal Justice
Academic Scholarship Years:
Daughter of
Renee Prouty

Renee is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Through the loss of her father and the support she has received from the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and helping her to know she’s not alone, Renee wants no other child to feel alone and wants to work as a child advocate within the Criminal Justice system.

Renee was an active member of the JROTC program in high school where she participated in drills, volunteered to clean up the community and helped with food drives for the less fortunate. She also volunteered with Interact, a club that is dedicated to being active in the local community. Renee remains active in her local community while going to school and working a part-time job.

Her family has struggled emotionally and financially. They have not let it become an excuse or crutch. If anything, this has fueled Renee to do more to make her father proud. She will succeed in college and in her future career.
