Savannah shares that everything that we see, do, and touch has been altered by the reality that the pandemic has created. Her nursing major during the past year has truly opened her eyes to the scope of her career choice once she receives her degree and how important the medical field is.
While many were unable to continue their academic careers due to financial hardships or major life disruptions due to COVID, Savannah feels blessed that the aid she receives from the Sarbanes Scholarship has allowed her to continue her education. Over the last five months, she has been working as a Nurse Extern in a COVID unit at Jefferson University Hospital through the Drexel Co-op program. This opportunity has confirmed a career as a nurse is the right fit for her.
Chief Deardorff writes, “Savannah is an intelligent young lady, dedicated to her studies and committed to her chosen profession, externing at a local hospital. She contributes not only to her local community, but contributes globally as well by having served on Mission trips to Guatemala with her church.”
