Bruce H. Gary‚ 51‚ firefighter‚ FDNY‚ Engine 40. He received a commendation for helping in the rescue at the World Trade Center bombing in 1993. Gary‚ who also worked part-time as a plumber‚ raised his three children after his divorce in 1991. He also found time to serve as vice-president of the Bellmore‚ N.Y.‚ Little League for 12 years.

I heard of his death at 911 and was very saddened by the news. He was a very strong man and I know by his personality he was very helpful. On that tragic day he was running into the building to help those who couldn’t get out ,when the building clasped on him .
I write this to the man I knew who was a good hearted , helpful,strong, person.

On Saturday 2 September 2017, I along with 600 other firefighters from around the world climbed 28 floors in full turnout gear and BA. This climb raised funds and awareness for a very worthy cause – fighting depression, PTSD and suicide. Collectively, this climb has raised over $468,000 and counting for a cause that impacts so many.
The climb was also to honour the 28 fallen MFB firefighters, 78 fallen CFA firefighters and the 343 9/11 FDNY fallen firefighters.
I would like to take the time to mention that I completed the 2017 Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb in honour of Bruce H. Gary‚ 51‚ firefighter‚ FDNY‚ Engine 40. Gary unfortunately lost his life at the World Trade Center attack on 11th September 2001.
I would like to also say thank you to friends and family who donated, friends and family who supported, other firefighters who competed because everyone’s contribution in any way makes a big difference.
