Roll of Honor

Firefighter
Age: 19
Year of Death: 2001

Marcus Alan Walters

Mark was a Kentucky Certified Volunteer Firefighter with the Faubush Tri- County Volunteer Fire Department. Mark joined the Fire Department at age 14 as an Explorer. He loved the training‚ the equipment‚ the older firefighters (his heroes)‚ and he would do anything to be at the department‚ even wash hose or sweep the floor. The only thing that Mark did not like was when he was told that there was something that he could not do because he was not old enough. This being the case he made sure that he had more than enough training hours to be a certified firefighter as soon as he turned eighteen. He was almost immediately used on the first entry team with other experienced firefighters upon becoming certified.

Mark graduated high school from the Saline Christian Academy in Somerset. He was employed as a Service Technician with the Western Pulaski County Water District. This job gave him great joy because he was working with the water supply that firefighters depend on as well as being out with the public everyday. Mark enjoyed talking to people‚ young and old.

Mark was a Christian and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Nancy‚ Kentucky‚ so I know that he has gone to Heaven‚ a far better place than this imperfect world but it doesn’t keep us from missing his smile and jokes or just knowing that he is around.

Mark was a giving person‚ even in death. His corneas and other tissue were used to help many others.
