The NFFF introduced a series of virtual workshops, by Michele Neff Hernandez, designed to build community among Fire Hero Family members who have been widowed. Although the series ended in February 2021, the workshops were so well received, we wanted to share this special Grit, Growth, & Grace playlist and related journaling activities with all of those who are coping with grief and loss.

A Season of Gratitude

As most enter November and December with our minds on the holidays. We reflect on the year and consider our individual and collective blessings. For Fire Hero Families, the holidays don’t stop, but we try to reconcile our loss as the world around them shouts “joy,” “peace” and “love.” As with everything, the path varies for each individual. But to a person, despite overwhelming loss, there is, nonetheless, a sense of gratitude and blessing.

It is important, especially right now while everyone is under a considerable amount of extra stress, to know how to access crisis intervention, should you need immediate help. Just like calling 911 for a medical emergency, there is good help available for psychological and emotional crisis points.
