Ralph J. Loyd‚ 90‚ a volunteer with Greenville Fire Protection District‚ died on February 4‚ 1999‚ of a stroke after responding to a grain elevator fire. He began serving as a firefighter in 1928 and had served the community continuously for 71 years.
