Dean Marshall

Fire Chief Dean Marshall, known as “Red,” was engaged in fighting a large fire in Tucson involving a 750-gallon propane truck when he suffered a massive heart attack and died.

John Spradling

John Spradling died when the driver of a car failed to yield to an oncoming tanker truck being driven by Spradling with its sirens sounding and its lights flashing in response to an automobile fire. In the collision, Spradling was killed when he was thrown from the cab of the truck. He had been with the Scottsdale Rural Fire Protection Company for ten years and was its first fatality.
