The families, friends and colleagues of the three firefighters who died in Washington State on Wednesday, August 19, need immediate help. This is the mission of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF). These survivors will likely need our assistance for years to come and, as always, NFFF will be there.

You can also help support these survivors of our fallen heroes. NFFF, in cooperation with organizations in the State of Washington, now has a national fund to accept money that will be used to assist the survivors and coworkers of the firefighters who were killed.

All money donated will be used to help the families and fellow firefighters begin rebuilding their lives. It will also support the programs and services that focus on the survivors of fallen firefighters. The NFFF Local Assistance State Team is one of those programs and was activated Sunday at the request of officials in Washington State.

“This tragedy has shaken a community and saddened our nation. We want the survivors and coworkers of those firefighters to know that the entire fire service family is thinking of them at this time. The Foundation will be at their side ready to offer our support today and in the months and years to come,” said Chief Ronald Siarnicki, executive director of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

The United States Congress created the NFFF to lead a nationwide effort to remember America’s fallen firefighters. Since 1992, the non-profit foundation has developed and expanded programs to honor fallen fire heroes and assist their families and coworkers. The NFFF also works closely with the U.S. Fire Administration to help prevent and reduce line-of- duty deaths and injuries.
