The National Emergency Training Center (NETC) campus will be closed during the government shutdown, including access to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial.

Remembrance Group

The anniversary of a firefighter’s death can bring a powerful wave of memories—no matter how much time has passed. You don’t have to carry that weight alone.

Each year, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation invites Fire Hero Families to take part in our Remembrance Card Program and Monthly Virtual Support Group—a meaningful way to honor your loved one and connect with others who truly understand.

During the month of your firefighter’s death, your family will receive a handwritten Remembrance Card created by another Fire Hero Family member. These cards are written heart-to-heart by those who have walked a similar path, offering comfort, understanding, and a reminder that your firefighter’s legacy is never forgotten.

In addition, families are encouraged to join our monthly virtual support group, held specifically for those whose firefighter is remembered that month. This confidential gathering offers a safe space to reflect, share, or simply listen. The group is facilitated by Vickie Taylor, LCSW, a trusted NFFF behavioral health consultant who has supported Fire Hero Families since the Foundation’s beginning in 1992.

Join us. Remember your firefighter.
Connect with others who understand.
