Roll of Honor

Deputy Chief
Age: 63
Year of Death: 2025
Year Honored:

Alexander G. Trenier

Alexander G. Trenier, 63, of Daphne, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2025. Born in Mobile on January 17, 1962, Alex was known for his integrity, selflessness, and dedication to both family and community.

Raised in the “Down the Bay” neighborhood with six siblings, Alex later moved near Dauphin Island Parkway. His parents owned Trenier and Sons Grocery, where he learned discipline and respect working as a butcher and cashier.

Alex graduated from McGill-Toolen Catholic High School in 1980 and played varsity basketball. Following a 200-year Trenier family tradition, he joined the Mobile Fire and Rescue Department in 1987, rising to driver in 1991, captain in 1994, district chief in 2001 (one of the city’s first Black district chiefs), and deputy chief in 2018. He served at Crichton Station’s District 3 headquarters for C Shift.

Alex believed fire stations were pillars of the community and fostered inclusivity. He built a strong relationship with the Dumas Wesley Community Center, organizing monthly volunteer outreach for local firemen.

He met his wife, Donna, in 1979, and they married in August 1986. Together, they created a loving home, sharing a passion for boating, hosting gatherings, and family. They welcomed their son, Alexander John Michael, in 1991, and daughter, Jennifer, in 1995.

Alex enjoyed boating on Fowl River, spending weekends making memories with loved ones. He cherished time with his dogs—Keku, Stella, Roscoe (Echo), Oakley, and Archie—and loved music, filling his home with classics including Otis Redding, Al Green, and Earth, Wind & Fire. Above all, he was proud of his children and never missed their milestones.

Alex’s wisdom and humor—marked by his “goofy smile” and sayings like “I am my brother’s keeper”—left a lasting impression. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Donna; his children, Alexander John Michael (Jakayla) Trenier and Jennifer (Nicholas) McClendon; siblings, Michelle Herman, Mark (Barbara) Trenier, Erane (Jesse) Allen, Marquita (Joe) Wiley, Medina Trenier; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother John Michael Trenier, brother-in-law Louis Herman, and nephew Raymond Wiley.

May Alex rest in eternal peace, forever sailing on calm waters.
