Andre G. Fletcher

Andre G. Fletcher‚ 37‚ firefighter‚ Rescue 5. Fletcher‚ who joined the FDNY in 1994‚ was posthumously promoted to fire marshal. Fletcher was scheduled to be off duty on September 11th‚ but worked because of a manpower shortage. A top athlete‚ he played football and baseball for the FDNY. Fletcher’s twin brother Zackary is also a New York City firefighter. Fletcher and his wife have a teenage son.

  4. I felt honoured to participate in the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb on September 2nd 2017 and to Carry a photo of fallen Hero Andre G Fletcher up 28 floors in full structural kit with Breathing apparatus to raise money and awareness of mental health disease.

  7. Having attended BTHS with Andre, it doesn’t surprise me that he and Zach became fire fighters. Andre was a dear guy, friendly to all and someone whose presence made the world a kinder place. My heart and love goes out to his family. I will continue to remember him and the joyful, caring person he was.

  8. I feel blessed to carry your photo in the City of Thomasville Firefighter Stair Climb on today, Wednesday September 11, 2019!! I was only in the 7th grade when this happened. And now my two boys (6 &3) will know of you and courageous others like yourself as well… We will never forget!

    I was fortunate to have first met you at Maimonides EMS as a medic student in 1996.
    You were a dynamic & genuinely good man who left us with good memories. You died doing what you loved. Eternally grateful.

  11. I worked with Andre at a Chevy dealer in the 80’s. He was a gentleman and a friend as well as a dedicated worker. It’s no surprise he was a hero. May he rest in peace.

  12. Although I never new Mr. Andre Fletcher, I am grateful to have the privilege to climb in honor of his memory at this year’s 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb in San Diego on September 10, 2022. As a twin, myself, my heart has been called to climb in his honor in support of his twin brother, Zackary as well as the rest of Andre’s family. I pray I honor him well.

  14. Came across a new 9/11 video and thought about all those we lost on 9/11. I remembered back in the days you were with the North Babylon FD and we were in those Underwater Rescue training classes
    together in the pool at SUNY Farmingdale and became friends. Rest easy my friend and know you are not forgotten.

  15. Today here in New Zealand 11 9 2023 I will be climbing the 60 stories,in memory of Andre and the other fallen because of 9 11,and also in memory of the new Zealand firefighters who have fallen in active duty

  17. I participated in Tunnels to Towers a couple years ago (and still do), but I took his name and picture with me and it hangs near the place that I get dressed. Each day, I pray to God that I may be half the man he was. I pray for his family, his legacy.
