Andy Eyster

Andy Eyster was born on June 21, 1972. Inspired by his favorite childhood television show, Emergency!, Andy dedicated his life to protecting his community and helping others. He began his career at Harbor City Volunteer Ambulance Squad and then Satellite Beach Fire Department before joining the Melbourne Fire Department, where he retired as a lieutenant. During his career, he also served as a flight paramedic for First Flight. In addition to his work with the fire department and First Flight, Andy was an educator and devoted a significant amount of time to training and mentoring paramedics.

Outside of the fire department, Andy had many passions. He had a deep love for music, especially classic rock, and attending concerts or watching local bands was one of his favorite pastimes. He was a self-taught and self-proclaimed “mediocre guitarist” and often shared “Name That Tune” videos of himself playing guitar to his social media. He was an avid Miami Marlins fan who enjoyed relaxing and watching a baseball game. He also enjoyed flight simulation, playing vintage video and pinball games, and shooting at the gun range. He was a great cook and was always eager to try out a new recipe.

During his courageous 3½-year battle with cancer, Andy remained dedicated to helping others by participating in clinical research trials, hoping to contribute to advancements in cancer treatment that could benefit future patients. When he was receiving treatment at Moffitt Cancer Center, he was asked if he was sure he wanted to proceed with an experimental treatment. His response was, “If it does not help me, it will help someone else.” This was the essence of who Andy was– always willing to help in any situation.

Andy is survived by his wife, Amy; his children, Eyan and Brett; his stepchildren, Jordan, Trent, and Averi; his parents, William “Hank” and Betty Eyster; and his sister, Alexa Eyster. His legacy lives on through the people he mentored and the countless lives he touched. Andy was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
