  19. I meant Brian back 1977 when he entered the Air Force. He was stationed at Hill Air Force Base in Utah. Brian was just starting his career with the Air Force and I was ending mine. Brian love was his wife and the New York fire department. He often talked about him and his wife or girlfriend at the time riding in the Chevy with a convertible top that leaked. He also talked about joining the New York fire department when he got out. Anybody that knew Brian certainly misses him but Brian did what he love and that was being there to help people. And to Brian’s family, Brian was a great guy with great integrity and honor.
Rest in peace old friend until we meet again.

    – Joseph Fitzpatrick
  20. Shortly after 9/11, my church had a basket of slips of paper with names of the fallen, and people could take a name to pray for that person. I drew Brian’s name and prayed for him every single day for a year, and then kept his name in my missal where I have seen it and prayed for him now 20 years. I prayed for him this morning. I will never forget.

  25. Today, 9/11/2022. I had the honor of walking in remembrance of Captain Brian Hickey, at the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb – Truist, Rockers Stadium, (High Point, NC). When arriving, there was cards available, that contained the name of a fallen hero. I had the honor of selecting Brian’s card to take with me on every step of my climb. Words alone, can’t express the privilege I felt, holding Brian’s card, as I walked each step within the stadium. This stair climb, allowed me to reflect on the true meaning of the word “hero”. Thank you Brian for reminding us all, what dedication, compassion and love really means, and how we need to continue, your legacy, in setting those same examples to one another. My prayers are with you and your family, along with all of those brothers and sisters who have fallen. “Never forget” Love to you and your family. ♥️.

  28. I didn’t know the family personally but went to school with his son Dennis. He also passed in December 2011. Rest in peace and you both are together now. I’m so sorry. My dad was a 9/12 fireman and worked for ladder 161 on Coney Island but I was fortunate my dad wasn’t there but in route to the city at the time the towers fell. He wasn’t suppose to work that day but had been called in.

    – Jill
  29. I knew Brian through work not socially or as a friend and I will tell you I have nothing but fond memories and respect for him. He worked in my firehouse as a covering officer E-287, L-136 right down the street from R-4 where he ended up. He was also friendly, professional, into the job. I really don’t know how anyone could say a negative thing about him. I don’t know why I was thinking about him today 2/22/24 in Bloomington MN, but I was. One of the many ff’s that died to early and I’ll never forget
