Firefighter/Engineer Brian D. Myers‚ Sr. lost his life in the line of duty while conducting interior fire suppression operations at the Prospector’s Bar & Grill fire on January 1‚ 1997 in the Town of Saratoga‚ New York.
FF Myers‚ Sr. was appointed to the Schuyler Hose Company on November 4‚ 1993. Through his hard work and dedication FF Myers‚ Sr. was awarded the 1994 New Firefighter of the Year by his peers at Schuyler Hose. He was elected to the position of company Trustee in April of 1995 and appointed to the position of Engineer in 1995. In his short career at Schuyler Hose FF Myers‚ Sr. attended several state fire schools and seminars including education at the NY State Fire Academy.
In profession‚ FF Myers‚ Sr. was a superintendent at a local paper mill and was known as strong‚ but very fair boss. He was a life long communicant at the Notre Dame – Visitation Catholic Church in Schuylerville‚ NY and also served as a Eucharistic minister for the church.
FF Myers‚ Sr. was an avid New York Giants and Yankees fan and dominated the firehouse ping pong table. In his ‘spare’ time FF Myers‚ Sr. was mowing the lawn or supporting his sons at local sporting events.
FF Myers‚ Sr. was 47 years old at the time of his death and is survived by his wife of 27 years Ronalee and three sons Brian Jr.‚ Adam and Philip. All three sons were also firefighters with Schuyler Hose.
I know it’s been a long time since you gave your life protecting our small community , You will Always be remembered, Real heroes don’t wear capes.Thank you for your sevice & dedication.

– Tom PlummerOur ways parted after SCS. I went into the military, and didn’t keep up with class reunions. I have fond memories of SCS especially being on the track team with you and Joe Salley. If one of you guys didn’t show up for the track meet I had a outside shot at second place. I only have the most heartfelt memories of you Brian a.k.a. (hummer). Tom
