Charles Spry suffered a fatal cardiac event after participating in a mandatory fire department physical fitness training the previous evening.
A devoted and dedicated firefighter, he served the communities of LaGrange and Sandy Bottom during his 21 years of service. His life centered around his family and the fire service, which he considered his second family.
Charles was remembered for his sense of humor, charismatic presence, and generosity. He was skilled with electronics and enjoyed fishing and four-wheeling. He always had country music playing and treasured the memories made during family cookouts and gatherings.
Charles was survived by his mother, Lynette King Spry; his siblings, Robert Spry and Heather Dickinson; his uncle, John King (Carol); his girlfriend, Doris Underhill; and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Mac Kornegay.
