Costello N. ‘The Colonel’ Robinson‚ 64‚ the most senior active career firefighter with the District of Columbia‚ died on July 9‚ 1999‚ from a heart attack while awaiting surgery for injuries sustained at a fire call. The 36-year veteran was a master ‘wagon driver.’ Also active in the Civil Air Patrol‚ Robinson was promoted to Colonel when he assumed command of Headquarters‚ National Capital Wing.
