Craig M. Konkle

Craig M. Konkle was born on December 25, 1969, in Seoul, South Korea. Craig lived a life filled with love, compassion, and dedication to his family and community. Craig graduated from North Warren Regional High School and attend Glassboro University (Rowan University) where he earned a BS in engineering. He was a manufacturing engineer at Veeco, located in Somerset, New Jersey.

Craig was a committed volunteer firefighter for the South Bound Brook Fire Department, where he served as the deputy chief, after working his way up the ranks. His bravery in the face of danger was a testament to his commitment to serving and protecting others. In 2017, Craig humbly accepted the Valor Award on behalf of his fire department.

Craig joined the fire department in November 2013. Craig was dedicated to continuing his training and teaching others. He became one of the department’s first state certified fire instructors. He could always be counted on to assist at all department fundraising functions. During work details and training classes, he enjoyed sharing his vast knowledge of knot making with his fellow fire department members. He was vigilant on safety, keeping a watchful eye on his fellow members during fire calls and training classes. During his tenure, he was always in the top 10 responders. He also served as a department trust for several years.

He was deeply rooted in the scouting community, having served as a leader with Troop 42 and Troop 154. He was an Eagle Scout himself, earning this accomplishment at the age of 14, exemplifying the Scout Oath and Scout Law in everything he did. His passion for scouting extended beyond his own achievements as he mentored and guided young scouts, instilling in them the values of leadership, service, and camaraderie.

Craig’s love for the outdoors and his desire to provide opportunities and experiences for youth were evident in his involvement as a coach for the Franklin Township South Bound Brook Little League. He found joy in working with young athletes, nurturing their talents, and instilling in them a sense of teamwork and sportsmanship. His impact extended beyond his immediate circle, and his dedication touched the lives of many.

Raymond and Sophie are left to carry on Craig’s legacy of love, service, and dedication. Though his physical presence may be gone, Craig’s memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and the lives he touched through his selfless service and boundless generosity. Always with a warm smile, giving spirit, and selflessness, Craig won the hearts of all that knew him.
