David A. Sullivan

Retired Chief Dave Sullivan, an indomitable spirit and a pillar of strength in the Otis Volunteer Fire Department, is remembered fondly for his unwavering dedication to his community. Tragically, on July 25th, 2010, he left us unexpectedly, having spent the previous day clearing the scene of a fire—a testament to his selflessness and commitment to serving others. For over three decades, Retired Chief Sullivan tirelessly served as a volunteer firefighter, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of those who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Beyond his firefighting duties, Dave Sullivan held a special place in the hearts of his community, earning the unofficial title of “Mayor of Driftwood Shores.” From the vantage point of his porch, he oversaw the goings-on in his beloved neighborhood and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Dave’s zest for life was infectious, and his passion for helping others was his driving force.

One of his most significant contributions came during the response to a devastating ice storm, where Retired Chief Sullivan played a key role in coordinating support for seniors and vulnerable residents. His leadership and tireless efforts ensured that the most vulnerable members of the community received the assistance they needed during a challenging time.

Dave was not only a firefighter but also a dedicated member of the Driftwood Shores Community Association, where he served on the board of directors. His involvement in community affairs exemplified his commitment to making Driftwood Shores a better place for all its residents.

Dave Sullivan was a selfless individual who gave to his community in countless ways, never asking for anything in return. He embodied the spirit of service, a true hero who stood strong in the face of danger and adversity, always ready to lend a helping hand and make the world a better place.

Though Dave Sullivan may no longer be with us, his legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and the community he helped build. The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation honors Retired Chief Dave Sullivan for his selfless service, unwavering dedication, and the lasting impact he left on the Otis Volunteer Fire Department and Driftwood Shores community.
