Dennis Mojica‚ 50‚ lieutenant‚ FDNY‚ Rescue 1. A graduate of the rigorous Aviation High School‚ Mojica was in the U.S. Navy for six years before joining the FDNY‚ where he was a 29-year veteran. On his days off‚ he enjoyed skiing and bicycling with his fianc_e. Mojica is survived by a teenage daughter.
We recived an I’d card at a local 911 Memorial Service with your Loved one on it and we will never forget him, as it said on his card. I live in Brockport, NY. I just wanted to reach out to you to let know that we will never forget him, even though we did not know him personally! God bless you and your family.

We had great times together and we knew staying with the phone company was not a great idea, so we both took city tests, I transit authority and he fire department, we got called and left the phone company. When 9-11 happened I was watching the list of the fallen and his name came up, I was devastated. I will miss you my friend, keep smiling in heaven.

– Floyd IvyI was alive on 9/11. I was in college studying to become an EMT although I am not a firefighter. I saw a video about a rescue in a very tall skyscraper with Dennis leading Rescue 1. It was a very dangerous operation because a window-washer was stuck on the lift outside, high up. Dennis was so serious and yet calm and cool. After he got the man inside he smiled really big at the man. I’m just writing because I wanted to tell you that story about him and that it impressed me very much, that he was indeed “ten feet tall” in the FDNY and in life. May God grant him rest and you and your family receive comfort.

I read the memorial wall and see so much love and healing wishes about LT Dennis Mojica and his family. I can not remember where I was this time and day, though my mother remembers me 3 years old in my rocker when it broadcasted on the Television. I remember her telling the stories of my father franticly calling relatives that were supposed to be at work in one of the towers. They, blessed, were not. But I grieve for the world that is one less hero like Mr. Mojica. I grieve for the 343 FDNY members who responded and their families who now have had to live on with their memory and tragic passing for so long.
I received an ID card from a Memorial Service Foundation with Mr. Mojica’s Image, and I am honored to Ring the Bell and say his name.
