Roll of Honor

Donald E. Souza

Captain ‘Snuffy’ Souza received a severe electrical shock while working a structure fire in 1995‚ which resulted in his early retirement due to cardiac complications and eventually to his death from the same cause. ‘Snuffy’ was a dedicated firefighter for the COMM Fire Dept. for 31 years‚ serving on numerous committees and holding the position of training officer for many years. ‘Snuffy’ was devoted to his wife Judy and their children‚ Gary‚ Dawn‚ Peter‚ and Eddie‚ and to their spouses Tonya‚ Mike‚ and Lisa. He was the best Grandpa ‘Snuffy’ to John‚ Kiley‚ Christopher‚ and Alex saving all his change all year for them so they could do their own Christmas shopping and attending all their school and sports events.

He was a real friend and father figure to his fellow firefighters and loved to play practical jokes on them. They could always depend on a good game of hearts with him. This year the annual Fireman’s Clambake‚ which ‘Snuffy’ organized for years and years‚ will be renamed‚ The Captain ‘Snuffy’ Souza Clambake. His great sense of humor and loyalty will be missed by all.
