Eugene P. McDonough

Eugene P. McDonough‚ 54‚ a career firefighter with the St. Johnsbury Fire Department‚ died when a brick wall collapsed on him during a warehouse fire on September 5‚ 1998. Fire officials determined it was an arson fire. McDonough began working as a firefighter in 1958 and had been with the St. Johnsbury Fire Department for nearly 20 years. He was active in community volunteer programs for shut-ins.

  1. When I first become a call firefighter 1994 in st. Johnsbury, Eugene was always teaching me things about firefighting. He was a mentor to me, He was a kidder and very smart. I moved away in 1996 where I continued to be a freighter in Roanoke VA and always remember what he had tought me. In 1998 when I heard about his passing, it was deviating. Felt like part of me died . I will never forget Eugene.
