Gerald Joseph “Joey” Cox, 47, of Munfordville, Kentucky, died June 28, 2019, from complications of occupational cancer, with his loving family by his side.
Joey was born on January 12, 1972, in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
He was a deputy with the Hart County Sheriff’s Department for 12 years and served a total of 27 years in law enforcement.
He was chief of the Priceville Volunteer Fire Department and a part-time EMT with the Hart County Ambulance Service.
Joey was an outdoorsman and worked with his dad on the farm. He was a member of Dorsey’s Chapel Methodist Church.
Joey was survived by his wife, Jamie Simpson Cox; his daughter, Gabrielle Cox; his sons, Scott Caffee (Olivia) and Joseph Ezekiel “Zeke” Cox; his parents, Gerald and Teresa Cox; his brother, Chuck Cox (Lydia); his sister, Sarah Beth Cox; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Joey respected all and was loved and respected by many. He was down to earth, caring, and willing to stand up for what he believed in. He was remembered as a guardian of the public and a peacemaker.
