Greg Jackson Wall was born on March 15, 1966, in Cusseta, Georgia, to Dr. and Mrs. Preston J. Wall. Greg was the oldest of three. He was raised with his brother, Eric Wall, and his late sister, Emma Chambers, in Lawrenceville, Georgia. After graduating from Central Gwinnett High School, he went on to Abraham Baldwin College and the University of Georgia, earning a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.
Greg and Susie, his wife of 32 years, called Sturgis, Mississippi, home. Greg and Susie had two sons, Clint (wife Bailey Cook, children Charley and Birdie Boone) and Colin.
Greg worked for Helena Agri for 32 years. He was a salesman in the Specialty Division. Greg was known for being honest, fair, and knowledgeable. He was respected by his colleagues and customers. He had a vast knowledge of plants and chemicals. He never grew tired of learning more. He was open to new ideas but saw the value in old, reliable methods as well. He strived to be a good steward of the land.
Greg was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, and he particularly loved hunting shed antlers. A crisp, sunny morning created the perfect environment for Greg to walk, scout, and ponder his thoughts. He made many memories with Clint and Colin over the years, sitting in the deer stand, following the sound of a turkey gobbling, walking in the woods, or sitting on the creek bank.
Greg was very active in his community. He served as alderman for the town of Sturgis, which opened the door for joining the Sturgis Volunteer Fire Department. He became chief (401) and held that position for 25 years. Greg loved being a volunteer firefighter. This provided another outlet for him to help others.
Greg was an active member of Morgan Chapel Baptist Church. He served in many capacities, including Sunday school teacher, deacon, choir member, and Bible study leader.
Greg will be remembered as a servant. He was a servant to his community, his family, but most importantly to God. He always put others before himself. He was gentle, humble, kind, and so much more. He loved Jesus more than he loved anyone else. He was open to sharing his faith with others, and his deeds backed up what he believed. We are thankful for having him in our lives. We are better because of him.
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ that you are serving. Colossians 3:23-24
