On November 30th, 1993, the Bourbon County Fire District #3 responded to a grass fire on the property of one of the department’s firefighters, Guy Post. While fighting the fire on his own property, Firefighter Post suddenly became ill and collapsed going into cardiac arrest. Efforts to revive Firefighter Post were unsuccessful. Firefighter Post died of cardiac arrest due to overexertion.
– Duane BanzetFirefighter Guy Post was 83 years old and left behind two sons, Larry, and Marvin Post, who at the time of his death, were also members of the Bourbon County Fire District #3 Fire Department.
Firefighter Guy Post, your service is not forgotten, and neither are you. Your name has been placed on three memorials, the National Fallen Firefighter Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland, the Kansas Fallen Firefighter Memorial in Wichita, Kansas and on the Delta side of the Southeast Kansas Fallen Firefighter Memorial in Girard, Kansas.
