Fire Guard James O. Harrison, age 20, of the U.S. Forest Service died on August 5, 1949, during the Mann Gulch Fire. James was a former smokejumper who served as a Fire Guard at Helena National Forest.
The National Emergency Training Center (NETC) campus will be closed during the government shutdown, including access to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial.
