Jesse U. Shockley Jr.

Jesse was a 13-year veteran of the Fort Bragg Fire Department. His career began with a 4 year tour in the Air Force as a firefighter. Jesse was also a certified law enforcement officer who served as an auxiliary police officer with the City of Fayetteville and later as a special deputy with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department in North Carolina. Jesse was also a volunteer with the Stoney Point Fire Department in Cumberland County‚ NC. Additionally‚ Jesse taught in the community college system specializing in fire brigade training at local manufacturing facilities.

Jesse was known for his humour‚ concern for his men and love for his family. Evenings in the fire house were always a social event with Jesse and the guys sitting around the dining room table holding court and telling war stories. Fire Station 5 at Fort Bragg has been named Shockley Fire Station. Jesse is missed every day. He is survived by wife Kimbal‚ daughters Ariel and Alexa‚ sister Becky and father Jesse Sr.
