John McGrath

John McGrath was a member of the Garfield County Fire Department and the Pomeroy City Fire Department in Washington state. He was burned over while trying to contain a wildfire and died later that day. He was an active member of numerous service and fraternal organizations. John left behind his parents, a sister, and a brother.

This firefighter line of duty fatality occurred before the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial was built in Emmitsburg, Maryland. While this firefighter has not been officially honored at the Memorial site, there are plans to do so when resources are available.
