John R. Fischer

John R. Fischer‚ 46‚ lieutenant‚ FDNY‚ Ladder 20. Fischer‚ an 18-year FDNY veteran‚ was posthumously promoted to captain after the World Trade Center attack. A dedicated family man‚ Fischer was very active in the lives of his three children‚ coaching them in sports and attending their games. Fischer was known around the firehouse as a skilled chef‚ and he also enjoyed running several miles a day.

  4. This past Tuesday I had the honor to climb the Denver memorial 9/11 stairclimb for Lieutenant Fischer. As a Lieutenant in the fire service myself I felt an immediate connection. Lieutenant Fischer you are remembered and will be forever with me.

  10. On 9/11/2021 I had the privilege and honor to walk in the Western KY Tunnel to Towers 5K Run/Walk in Greenville, KY. Before we began the walk/run we were given a badge to wear with a person from 9-11.
    I just looked at the person on my badge I was given and was so humbled! Thank you for your service and being who you were to your family, city and country. May god bless your memory, your family and your city.

  17. I completed the Zionsville Citizens Fire Academy tonight. Zionsville, IN. During the graduation I was given a bracelet with John’s name on it as a way to remember fallen firefighters. I have such immense gratitude for this profession after completing this program. Thank you for your service, bravery and sacrifice.
