Leslie Hamilton

Captain Leslie Hamilton was born on January 13, 1902 in Ellsworth, WI. He started with the City of Kenosha as a lineman for the citywide fire call box network. He joined the Kenosha Fire Department in 1932 and served as a Firefighter, Engine Driver, Lieutenant and Captain. He was stationed at House #3. Captain Hamilton was killed in a crash of the rig while they were responding to a call on January 17, 1954. He was survived by his wife Martha Hamilton and son, Thomas.

This firefighter line of duty fatality occurred before the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial was built in Emmitsburg, Maryland. While this firefighter has not been officially honored at the Memorial site, there are plans to do so when resources are available.
