Mark Haudenschild died November 11‚ 2012‚ in an apparatus accident while responding to a reported grass fire.

Born in Fort Wayne‚ he was a second-generation firefighter with the Washington Center Township Volunteer Fire Department‚ where he served as an assistant chief engineer for five years. He was motivated by a desire to help others in their hour of need. Known as ‘Mr. Fix It’ by his family‚ Mark also put his talents to use doing maintenance on some of the fire department rigs.

He worked as a technician with Comcast for six years. He enjoyed cars‚ hunting‚ fishing‚ and family. He was a Eucharistic minister and a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Arcola‚ Indiana‚ as well as Sugar Grove Church of God.

Mark was a devoted father to his two young children. He and his wife enjoyed being together‚ whether they were doing something special or just working together around the house.

He was survived by his wife‚ Janet Haudenschild; his children‚ Kyra and Mark Haudenschild III; his father‚ Mark (Susan) Haudenschild Sr.; his mother‚ Jean Haudenschild; siblings‚ Casey Morgan‚ Matthew Kinsey‚ Angela (Mark) Gregory‚ Amber Martin‚ and Angela S. (Patrick Muller) Haudenschild; nephews‚ Andrew‚ T.J.‚ and Alex; grandparents‚ Paul (Marlene) Haudenschild‚ Mary (Hubert) Williams‚ and Sunny (Darlene) Myers; and parents-in-law‚ Richard and Anita Frame.

He was remembered as a devoted family man who was always smiling.
