Michael A. Burgan

Captain Michael A. Burgan was born on July 14‚ 1966‚ to Betty and the late Archie Burgan Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife‚ Nancy‚ on January 29‚ 1995. He is survived by his mother‚ as well as his daughter‚ Rachel‚ and brothers Roscoe‚ Raymond‚ William‚ and Archie Jr.‚ and his sister‚ Laura. He was known to most people as ‘Mouse.’

Captain Burgan was a 19-year veteran of the Sugarcreek Fire Department and had completed numerous advanced training courses. He was also an EMT with the Swiss Valley Joint Ambulance District and a certified diver. Mike was a member of the Tuscarawas County Firefighters Association‚ Ohio State Firefighters Association‚ and the Tuscarawas County RIT Team. He was very dedicated to the fire service and rarely missed a call. Mike was twice awarded the Firefighter of the Year award for his department.

Michael worked as an electrician and plumber after graduating from high school. He later worked on the Rowe family farm. He was a mechanic and welder who could fix just about anything. His hobbies included hunting‚ fishing‚ and shooting‚ which he enjoyed along with his daughter. He also enjoyed watching his daughter play softball as a teenager‚ as well as helping her practice.
