Michael E. Kreps Jr.

Michael E. “Mike” Kreps Jr. was born January 8, 1967, in Hartford City, Indiana. Mike graduated from Maxville Christian School in 1985 and from Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 1992. He was hired as a full-time police officer for the City of Dunkirk in 1992 and served as patrolman first class and captain. He retired as the captain of the City of Dunkirk Police Department in 2016 and became the City of Dunkirk street department superintendent. Mike started his 28-year volunteer fire service in 1993.

Mike was a member of Temple Baptist Church and the Dunkirk American Legion Post 227.

Mike received many accolades throughout his police and fire career, and he was a humble man. He was the most helpful, caring, loving, and genuine person. He was always there to lend a hand and to serve his community. His family was the world to him. Mike married his wife of 29 years, Eva, on August 10, 1992, and they had two beautiful children, Sam and Sydney. Anyone that knew Mike also knew that his pride and joy were his grandchildren, Kimber, Liam, and Remy.

Although Mike is not with us physically, he is most definitely with us in spirit and is watching over his family each and every day. His wife, Eva Kreps; his children, Sam (Ashley) Kreps and Sydney Kreps; his parents, Mick and Charlotte Kreps; his brother, Cecil Kreps; and his grandchildren, Kimber, Liam, and Remy; miss him terribly and look forward to the day they will be reunited.
