It was my honor to have you in my thoughts while climbing, but I wish you could have gotten out. I wish you could have had your life. I will not forget your sacrifice and that of your family.

– EvelynEvery year my family watches the September 11th memorial and when your name comes up we say a special prayer for you and your family. My brother Paul Marten is a now retired NYC Firefighter. On the evening of 9-11-01 my father’s friend came to the house on a mission from our parish Monsignor who had very close ties with the fire department. He was told my brother was missing and assumed dead. It was a terrible few hours but we were spared. My brother was confused with you. My family prayed for your family that day, hoping you would be found and be ok. We feel a deep connection with you, though we have never met and I feel a bit uneasy even now, comparing our temporary grief with the very real, lifelong pain your family has experienced. I just wanted your family to know that there is another family who honors your sacrifice. RIP.
– Laura MartenToday on September 11, 2024 I carried your name, title, and engine 201 on an ID tag climbing 110 flights of stairs in your honor. You are never forgotten
