Philip S. Petti‚ 43‚ lieutenant‚ FDNY‚ Battalion 7. While growing up in Brooklyn‚ Petti dreamed of being a firefighter. After trying a variety of other jobs‚ he joined the FDNY‚ and‚ for 18 years‚ lived his dream. He enjoyed every part of the job‚ particularly treasuring the friendships he made in the firehouse. Petti was also a music fan and an athlete – he played nearly every team sport‚ coached his children’s soccer and baseball teams‚ and rooted fiercely for the Giants‚ Mets‚ and Rangers.
Today I did the 9/11 stair climb and was given Lt. Petti as the firefighter i was climbing for. It was an honor, God Bless you and your family.

I pray that his family is comforted by these small rembrences and know that this wonderful man and his fellow firefighters are not forgotten, but treasured in our hearts and memories. I am named for a FDNY firefighter, my grandfather, and grew up in Brooklyn, where I watched the erection of the WTC when walking to the subway to go to HS.
I did a stair climb on 9/11/2022 in Marietta, GA, carrying Lt. Petti’s picture.
