Randy B. Miner

Randy B. Miner was born on February 1, 1964, to Fred and Maryanne Miner of Moundsville, West Virginia. He was a loving son, husband, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, father figure, and friend. Randy was a dedicated public servant from the time he joined the Mary Ann Township Fire Department in 2002. He was the department’s first full-time employee. He moved through the ranks and was the fire chief when he was called to his heavenly home on September 26, 2021.

Even before joining the fire department, he was the first to lend a hand. In addition to his role as a fire chief, Randy was a beacon of mentorship in the fire department. Recognized for his dedication to guiding his fellow firefighters, he was the essence of true leadership. Whether sharing valuable knowledge gained from years of experience or offering words of encouragement during challenging times, Chief Miner stood as a mentor. His ability to lead by example gave a sense of confidence among the department, fostering a culture of support within the firehouse. He invested time in the next generation, instilling the values of integrity and selflessness that defined his own career. He leaves behind a legacy that defies the boundaries of time.

As much as Chief Miner was a hero in the line of duty, he also embodied the essence of love in his personal life. To his beloved spouse, Patty, he was not just a husband, but a partner whose support formed the strength of their relationship for 28 years of marriage. Through the trials and triumphs of life, his devotion served as a guiding light in the journey. His friends, too, found in him a wealth of knowledge, advice, and humor. Whether celebrating wins or navigating challenges, Chief Miner was the glue that bound relationships together, His genuine kindness left a lasting mark on all who had the privilege of calling him friend, leader, and father figure.

Randy could often be found with his loyal companion, his black lab “Shadow.” He enjoyed being outdoors, camping, cooking on a fire, fishing, listening to bluegrass music, and making memories with family and friends. He loved his Harley-Davidson and was proud to have visited 48 of the states, traveled to Sturgis, through the mountains and the Badlands. He was a successful business owner of R&M Bakery for 35 years. He took pride in his business being housed in an old firehouse that dated back to when the equipment was horse drawn. Randy loved history and was always telling stories and giving tours of the structure.

Randy was one of a kind, and his passing leaves a void in so many lives.
