Richard A. Heinze‚ 47‚ a 25-year career veteran with the Newark Fire Department‚ died of a heart attack on June 4‚ 1999‚ after returning from a fire run. He had received valor awards from the department and the 200 Club of Essex County. He was past president of the Newark Firemen’s Union Local and a member of the Fire Safety Commission of the State of New Jersey representing the International Association of Fire Fighters
The National Emergency Training Center (NETC) campus will be closed during the government shutdown, including access to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial.
