Richard T. Muldowney‚ Jr.‚ 40‚ firefighter‚ FDNY‚ Ladder 7. As a child‚ Muldowney and his friends would fight mock blazes. At 18‚ Muldowney joined the Freeport Volunteer Fire Department Company‚ and‚ nine years later‚ the FDNY. Outside the firehouse‚ he was a spectacular carpenter and could build almost anything. He was also a Long Island bayman who enjoyed fishing‚ crabbing and clamming.
Richie adored his entire family. He always knew he wanted to be a firefighter and was the best at his job.

I received a badge with Richard’s picture as a remembrance to the hero he was. I will wear it proudly. He would be 60 now and my thoughts are with his family and all those who lost their loved ones that horrible day. We’ll Never Forget.

This was my first stair climb to honor the 343 that selfishly sacrificed themselves to save others. Although it was tough for me, I cannot imagine how tough it was for Richie and the other 342. This climb really put things into a new perspective. HANDS DOWN, the most humbling experience of my life and am forever grateful for his sacrifice.
Richie, may you and all the victims forever rest peacefully. We’ll always remember and we’re STILL not afraid!
