Roll of Honor

Firefighter/Fire Police Officer
Age: 82
Year of Death: 2020

Robert D. Klinefelter

Robert (Pop Pop) Klinefelter was born June 15, 1938, and was taken home on December 30, 2020, which was too soon.

In his early years, Bob served in the U.S. Army. During his service, he married Nancy Dunlap Klinefelter. After completing his military service, he relocated back to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, eventually settling in Shaler Township, Pennsylvania.

One day, his youngest child, a son, watched a presentation at his elementary school from the local fire department and asked him to become a fireman. That is how his career started with Bauerstown Volunteer Fire Department. Bob’s dedication to the residents of Shaler Township lasted for 37 years, which earned him lifetime status.

While volunteering with the volunteer fire department, Bob was also a Scout Leader and later became an active part of the fire police. In addition to his volunteer work, he was employed with LTV Steel, United Parcel Service, and as a bus driver for the North Hills School District.

Bob was always dedicated to everything he did. He was a wonderful husband and a fantastic father, brother, uncle, and grandfather. His smile and laugh were contagious, and it was so easy to love him.

Bob was the treasurer for the Bauerstown VFD, Shaler Fire Police, and his Boy Scout troop, until he passed. The fire department filled a large part of his life, and he had great admiration and respect for all the men and women he served with.

Bob is survived by his five children, Patricia, Diana, Donna, Debra, and Darren, as well as his brothers and sisters, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
