Robert Krague

Chief Robert J. Krague was a well-liked firefighter who went on to serve as both the last volunteer Fire Chief and the first paid Fire Chief of the Pueblo Metropolitan Fire Department. He was tragically killed in a buggy accident while training on July 31, 1891.

This firefighter line of duty fatality occurred before the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial was built in Emmitsburg, Maryland. While this firefighter has not been officially honored at the Memorial site, there are plans to do so when resources are available.
