Robert M. Samanas‚ 52‚ a firefighter/paramedic with Rural Metro Fire Department-Bethlehem Steel‚ died on October 31‚ 2000‚ of a heart attack after completing physical ability training. He served with the Porter Volunteer Fire Department for eight years and Porter County Ambulance Service for ten years.
