I understand that we lost Roger before this site was up but I am still surprised that no one else has ever posted anything. Roger was my first mentor in fire. Before that everyone just assumed that you would figure it out on your own. Roger was a awesome fireman and a great friend. I was thinking of him this Christmas like I do every year and pray for those he left behind. I will start a new tradition and post here each year.
– WaltI am the niece of Roger Evans. We lost him out in the field when I was 5 years old. However, I have very fond memories of him when I was a child. I can remember him in his uniform at Christmas always bringing me back Forest Service “goodie bags” with Smokey the Bear stickers and coloring books. He would show me around the station and let me play with the sirens. He left behind a devoted wife and two children. We always reminisce of the playful and sarcastic nature of my Uncle. Christmas in Truckee was never the same. I am so proud to have called Roger Evans my Uncle and a man who fought to protect our land and our people. Thank you Walt for your prayers and kind words.
– LaurenI worked as a FF at the Truckee Ranger District, Tahoe National Forest Service under him. I remember him as a very nice man.
