Ronald Maurice “Ron” Strosnider

Ronald Maurice “Ron” Strosnider of Wardensville, West Virginia, was born on December 21, 1947, in Winchester, Virginia. He was the son of Wilbur Joseph and Nevaline Vincent Strosnider. He attended James Wood High School in Winchester, Virginia; Nashville Auto Diesel College in Nashville, Tennessee; and James Rumsey Vocational Technical School in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

He was an auto/diesel and small engine mechanic all his life, and there wasn’t anything he believed he could not repair. Ron owned and operated “Ron’s Chevron” in Wardensville, West Virginia, for several years. At the time, he provided the only full-service gas station in the area, plus working on vehicles and performing small engine repair.

Ron had a love for hunting, fishing, football, softball, and NASCAR. He shared his favorite pastimes with his family, including his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed taking them hunting and fishing and loved watching them play sports.

His greatest joy was spending time with the love of his life, Pam. Ron married Pamela “Pam” Strosnider on May 13, 1978. This began a longtime partnership as inseparable best friends. They had three children, Lisa, Ginger, and Joseph “Joey.”

Ron was a very patient and caring man to his family, friends, and anyone he met. He enjoyed visiting with everyone in the community and was a jokester who always enjoyed a good laugh. He was a humble, quiet person who had a strong love of the Lord. He always had a smile on his face and was ready and willing to help those in need, no matter the age or situation. He strongly loved children of all ages and was always passing out candy to everyone young and old.

In 1986, Ronald “Ron” Maurice Strosnider made the decision to join the Capon Valley Volunteer Fire Company in Wardensville, West Virginia. For 37 dedicated years, he served the Wardensville community and surrounding areas of Hardy County, West Virginia. He was always willing and able to work annual community events and fundraisers for the fire company, where he enjoyed socializing with his friends and the people in the community.

Ron’s last alarm was on October 20, 2023. He passed away from cardiac arrest after responding to a residence to assist with a medical emergency. Ron leaves behind a loving family and many friends who miss him dearly and will cherish all their memories of him. The family grieves a lot for him, but they know he enjoyed his life and was very proud of being a firefighter.

We will never forget you and will always remember, “As long as we have memories, yesterday remains.”
