Silas R. Thompson, age 21, of the U.S. Forest Service died on August 5, 1949, during the Mann Gulch Fire in Helena National Forest.
The National Emergency Training Center (NETC) campus will be closed during the government shutdown, including access to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial.
